Three people were shot and injured Thursday night on the campus of the University of the State of Tennessee in Nashville, reported the municipal authorities.
According to a local newspaper, one of the victims is in critical condition.
Several fatal shootings have already been held this month in academic forums.
Nine people were killed on October 1 in Oregon and two shootings occurred a few hours apart on October 9 on the campus in Flagstaff Arizona and Houston, Texas, killing one person at each site.
The proportion of Americans who demanded a tightening of legislation on firearms sales rose eight points from last year, 55% of people now are calling for a strengthening of regulations on the matter.
