42 people died in a collision between a bus and a truck in Gironde

"Friday at 7:30 am, a collision occurred between a truck and a bus, up to the town of Puisseguin on secondary road 123", Sud Ouest relates. The passengers were trapped: there are at least 42 deads.
According to the prefecture reached by BFMTV, there are only eight survivors, five are injured, three are free. They have managed to get out of the bus smashing bus windows.
The bus passengers were elderly who went on a journey in Bearn. Sixty firemen mobilized. The bus was early left this morning from the town of Petit-Palais, Gironde, and went in the Landes. According to Jean-Michel Desplos, head of news items to Sud Ouest, "road conditions were good". Route 123, on which the collision took place, was narrow but it wasn't particularly wet or slippery. "I don't think the weather can explain this tragedy," said the deputy Florent Boudie on BFMTV, which, however, urges caution.
"The French government is fully mobilized on this terrible tragedy," said Francois Hollande, traveling in Greece. Manuel Valls is expected on site in 11 hours, he will be joined by Bernard Cazeneuve. The prefect, he is already there. Alain Juppe, Mayor of Bordeaux, he also went to the scene. This is the worst accident since 1982. At that time, 53 people including 44 children were killed in a bus accident in Beaune, Cote-d'Or.
