End of the one-child policy in China
China officially announced Thursday the end of the one-child policy and will allow all Chinese couples to have two children, according to a statement from the Communist Party reported by Xinhua news agency.
This decision, of historic significance, follows a relaxation two years ago - Beijing has allowed the Chineses to have two children if one parent was himself an only child - and is designed to correct the alarming gender imbalance (between male and female) and stop the aging of the population.

"I don't think the weather can explain this tragedy," said the deputy Florent Boudie on BFMTV, which, however, urges caution.
"The French government is fully mobilized on this terrible tragedy," said Francois Hollande, traveling in Greece. Manuel Valls is expected on site in 11 hours, he will be joined by Bernard Cazeneuve.
